Upcoming workshops: Kiln Formed Pendants

Content/Outcomes

Students will learn the particulars of cutting, grinding and the particulars of preparing a project for film firing. The course will also cover glass safety and the use of tools and equipment relevant to kiln formed pendant making. Each student will make four pendants including a geometric pendant, diachronic splash pendant and a fused pendant with a glass loop.

What you will need

In the interest of safety all students will need to bring along safety glasses, gloves (rubber dipped recommended) and wear closed toe footwear.

Cost: The full cost of the workshop is $140.00, this cost covers all materials that will be used, and much will be provided. (Please specify dietry requirements) This class will receive a maximum of 7 students, so a deposit of of $40 is required to secure a place. (This is to prevent people missing out on the class unnecessarily) The balance can be paid in full before on on the day. Deposits and payments can be made either by EFT or cash

Ongoing classes Lead lighting, Copper foil and glass mosaics.

Evening classes are attended 6:45pm-9:15pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday                                      

Morning classes are attended 9:45am-12:15pm Tuesday & Thursday 

** Thursday evening  and morning will be exclusively for beginners, min of 3 enrolments to commence classes.

Please note our current class size is a maximum of 7 students.  As classes are at capacity any student missing his/her class must understand that make up classes can only be made if room presents itself on another day. Missed classes are not transferable between terms.

Caution: Some medical conditions may exclude you from attending Leadlight Classes, please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are taking blood thinner medication before enrolling.

Content/Outcomes

Over 7 weeks’ beginners will complete two leadlight projects. Students will learn the particulars of cutting, grinding, leading, soldering and putting together a completed project. Ongoing students will continue to be guided in project of their choice. Please note, students wishing to undertake copper foil or glass mosaic classes are encouraged to complete the leadlight beginners course to cover glass safety and learn cutting skills.

What you will need

In the interest of safety all students will need to bring along safety glasses, gloves (rubber dipped recommended) and wear closed toe footwear. Please also bring along a felt tipped marker. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Cost: The full cost of the course for beginners $315.00, this cost covers the all materials that will be used in our first two beginners’ projects and students will also be issued a glass cutter which is theirs to keep at the end of term. Ongoing students fee is $230.00 per term understanding that materials will need to be purchased for your desired projects. Due to a limited class sizes, we ask students to pay a deposit of $75 to secure a place in the class. (This is to prevent people missing out on the class unnecessarily) The balance can be paid in full the night classes commence. Deposits and payments can be made either by EFT or cash.

Private Classes

Private classes are available with Micheal at agreed upon timed for students who wish to receive extras tuition or perhaps cannot make other class times. Private lessons are booked for a minimum of 2hours at $50 per hour. Material are also an additional $20.
