At Ageless Leadlights, we love seeing heritage charm brought to life in a new build — and this recent leadlight installation was a perfect example of just that.
Our client approached us with a unique challenge: to create a new leadlight panel for their bathroom that would honour the existing leadlight featured at the front of their home. The house, reflects the charm and elegance of an early Victorian Federation-style home. With original leadlight panels adorning the entryway, it was essential that any new additions remained true to the character and detail of the period.
The bathroom window offered the perfect opportunity to introduce light, colour, and artistry — all while staying faithful to the heritage aesthetic. The brief was to match the front door’s leadlight panel as closely as possible, creating a sense of continuity throughout the home. This involved carefully selecting glass colours and textures that echoed the original design, with attention to detail in every curve and solder line.
Leadlight artist Michael took great care in recreating the piece, using traditional techniques to mirror the design from the front of the house. The result? A stunning new panel that not only floods the bathroom with beautiful filtered light, but also seamlessly complements the rest of the home’s period features.
The final installation was a resounding success. The client was thrilled with the outcome, noting how the panel elevated the space and tied in beautifully with the overall style of the home. For Michael, it was a joy to work on a piece that celebrated both tradition and creativity.
Whether it’s restoring a classic window or creating a new one to match, we believe every piece of leadlight has the power to transform a space — and this bathroom is now glowing proof of that.
